Viral Nation - Shaunta Grimes Imagine living in a world where you live or die by an injection. Where you've had loved ones die or had to make decisions that would cost you your heart and soul. That's how Viral Nation begins. The first few pages tore at my heart and at the same time gave me the hook that I needed to continue reading. Viral Nation was written in a way that I really adored. It was fast-paced, exciting and interesting. I loved the concept of how a group of people could go into the future and find cures for a disease that was destroying humankind. And what added to the plot line was the fact that they ended up exterminating those who had committed heinous crimes in the future. And that's where the adventure really begins because Clover's beloved brother is accused of a vicious crime. The thing that stood out to me in this book was the relationship between Clover and her brother. I could tell that they were a really close family, instead of characters that had been put in a book just for the sake of it. Clover and West were committed to each other and it shined through in the fight they had to find a way to save his life. But it showed in more ways than that. Viral Nation was very character driven - at least that's what it felt like to me.I also like the way the secondary characters related to the main characters and I really liked Jude, who ended up being Clover's love interest. There was no inst-love here, but a slow-drawing to each other. And, just like West and Clover were a family, Jude and several other characters made up a family as well. I would have liked to have known more about several of the other characters but I hope to read more about them in the future because I believe there is a sequel.Viral Nation was written in third voice and gave me an insight into what each character was feeling. It was rather nice to be able to get inside the minds of others instead of just the main character. I also enjoyed how each chapter started with a quote. Somehow it gave each chapter more meaning. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and will be interested to read any sequel that comes out in the future. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes post-apocalyptic/sci-fi type of books. Now for my rating:-Four out of five wands(Thanks to Berkley Trade and Netgalley for allowing me to be able to read and review this book as a Read Now novel.)This review can be found here:-http://magicalmanuscriptsandwritingthings.blogspot.co.nz/
