Losing It (Losing It, #1)

Losing It - Cora Carmack I must admit that I took a chance when I decided to read this. Actually, I was curious about it once I saw the gorgeous cover. It was very...suggestive. And then I read the blurb and I knew it had to be comedic. And it was.So, the gist of this book is that Bliss meets up with a guy and plans to sleep with him, but chickens out. Then she has to work with him because he's her college professor. There's more to it, of course, after that, but I'll leave it to the reader to discover what happens next. It's been a long time since I've laughed while reading a book, but this character, Bliss, was hilarious. Even though she was likable, she came across as unsure and somewhat vulnerable. It's really hard to say more about her because, sadly, she lacked character development. I didn't really know anything about her. I didn't know why she chose acting as her career choice. I didn't know what her relationship with her family was like, apart from her mother always asking if she had a boyfriend. I didn't know how she became friends with Cade, or any of the others, except they had classes together. She had no depth.Garrick was a hot, British guy who volunteered to work the last semester covering an absentee professor. Once again, I don't know anything about him, except why he ended up in the same city as Bliss. All I know is that he ended up falling for Bliss, and that he wasn't really a fan of Shakespeare when Bliss was.The sad reality is that the characters are pretty forgettable. The story line was alright and the pace was enough to keep me interested in finishing the book, but if I really look back and try to tell you what I liked the most about the book, I can't. Nothing really stood out for me, except maybe Bliss's character voice. The only thing that saved this book from going on my 'did not like' pile was that it was so predictable and cheesy that it crept into the part of my brain reserved for 'love of cheesy books that bring out the hopeless romantic in me'.I would recommend this to anyone who likes sweet books and doesn't mind a couple of sex scenes. As far as language goes, it's pretty clean.Anyway, that's it for this review. I know it's short and sweet, but I really don't have anything more to add. And, now for my rating. Two out of five stars. This review can be found here http://magicalmanuscriptsandwritingthings.blogspot.co.nz/
